Dan-Joe "On The Rails" at Underfall Yard

The historic Underfall Yard, where this picture was taken, has been functioning as a drydock for hundreds of years. The tower visible next to the ship  houses some of the hydraulic equipment that the yard has been using since the 1800's to move ships up and down the rail.

The yard is still in use as a living museum of maritime heritage.

Daniel Joseph was the 131st and final boat built at the Albion Dock Yard under David Ables, in 2016.  Mr Ables designed and built Dan-Joe based on the traditional hull shapes common in Bristol throughout the 1800's. He prioritized robust and functional design elements which produced a ship  that can safely transport heavy loads in unforgiving seas with minimal crew.

. The schooner was designed to be a sail training vessel and was named after his two sons Daniel and Joseph.
